I didn't think that I would become the winner. Until my name was announced. It has been a very learning journey. I would like to call it shortcut pool. Where legends met people. Learned a lot. Found friends for life. With whom you will remember these moments.
You were also the winner of the Voice of India reality show in 2015, how much did you get from that victory?
That win was not a plus point for me as I was a little child of fickle mind at that time. He was only nineteen years old. I had got the trophy but didn't know how to handle it. I learned the same in 5 years and chose Idol as my fresh start. I was very nervous to audition for Indian Idol as Sawai had gone to sing before me. I sang half the song in panic and then slowly it got better. Being a winner is a responsibility. Now it has to be kept properly.
To whom would you like to dedicate this victory?
To my family as well as all those people who have helped me reach here. To all the audience whose love made me the winner.
Your mother started crying as soon as your name was announced. Are there any plans to do something special for them with the prize money?
Whatever I can do for them. That would be less. They have to travel the whole world. He has sacrificed many of his dreams in our upbringing. All his dreams have to be fulfilled. The car I got from Indian Idol. I am going to visit Kedarnath with him. Along with this, I will also spend some part of the prize money in building a music school in my home town so that the children there get to learn good music so that they too can come and perform on a stage like Indian Idol.
What is your dream about music now?
I am not thinking that I have to reach a big place, but I have thought that I have to make good music. As far as playback singing is concerned, so many legends are singing in Bollywood. If I get only one song then I will consider myself lucky.
Are you familiar with Salman Khan?
We have met each other, all I can say is this. Director Mahesh Manjrekar had called me for a song. There I met Salman sir and took a photo. If Salman Khan can sing for Sir's film then it will be like a dream come true. To join Salman sir's film means to enter Bollywood directly.
Your name is constantly linked with singer Arunita in Indian Idol, how much truth is there?
We are just good friends. We have the same bonding with 6 contestants of Indian Idol. If you ever see us together you will understand. This is a friendship of a lifetime. We also want to work together. We are also going to get houses around Mumbai.
